And the vehicle is as crazy as the specifications -

This car has more bodywork than any machine this side of the GT-R. And all of it is functional, intended to improve the performance of this Front Wheel Drive Hot Hatch.

This machine has an all new 2.0 Litre Direct injection Turbo V-TEC motor. Essentially a 4 cylinder with a turbo fitted + direct injection of fuel to improve power, and variable valve timing, that changes along with Engine RPM. I'm expecting a heady redline of 7000+ RPM easy.

Performance stats are equally impressive with a 0-100 time of 5.7 seconds for a Front wheel drive car. Top speed is around 270 kmph.

Power is fed via a 6 speed manual gearbox only. Knowing Honda, this is going to be one of the slickest shifters in the market .

310PS or 306 BHP is made at 6500 RPM, and 400 Nm of torque is available at 2500 RPM! There are some disputes regarding the torque figures with some publications claiming it as 295 Nm. The jury is still out on that.

The vehicle has 350mm - 4 piston brakes to ensure it slows down in time. But for the ultra light weight category this machine is, the G-sensor in the last picture is for good measure.

Honda debuts something known as R+ mode on this car. A button that stiffens the suspension, steering and throttle response. And it's conveniently placed next to the Engine Start-Stop switch :)

There is also a GT package, that adds - Navigation with 5 year free upgrades, Front and Rear parking sensors, Dusk Sensing headlights, Rain sensing wipers, Electric fold mirrors and an Eight Speaker sound system rated at 320 Watts.

    From the Honda website -

    "
The Civic Type R's blistering performance is unmatched in the front-wheel drive hot hatch segment: the 0-to-100 km/h (62mph) sprint is covered in just 5.7 seconds - making it the fastest accelerating performance front-wheel drive hatchback - and top speed, where permitted, is a class leading 167 mph (270 km/h).

At the heart of the Civic Type R is an all-new, direct-injected turbocharged 2.0 litre VTEC TURBO petrol engine, which delivers power, torque and performance figures unmatched in the front-wheel drive hot hatch segment. Peak power output is 310 PS* at 6,500rpm, and peak torque is 400Nm* at 2,500rpm – both higher than for any previous Honda Type R model.

The styling changes that are unique to the Civic Type R give the car an aggressive, purposeful stance, yet almost all have a functional purpose. The sleek and aerodynamically efficient design reflects a car developed to perform at speed. The focus on aerodynamics has ensured high-speed stability and high levels of down force. A range of aesthetic and functional upgrades within the cabin reinforces the Type R's sporting character. As with previous Type R models, the gear lever knob is made from machined aluminium alloy. High-backed sports seats, trimmed in suede-effect black fabric with red double stitching, provide driver and front-seat passenger with ample lateral support during harder cornering.

A number of innovative new suspension systems, unique to the Type R, have been introduced to produce rewarding handling characteristics and to maximise power transfer to the road. These systems are complemented by Dual Pinion Electric Power Steering, which helps to deliver rapid yet linear steering response and abundant feel.

The new Civic Type R will mark the debut of the new '+R' button that increases the response of various chassis and drivetrain systems. The result is an even more intense driving experience, ideal for the track and sure to be appreciated by the genuine sports-driving enthusiast.

Customers will have the option to specify their new Civic Type R with an all-new GT Pack. The driver will benefit from extra convenience features such as front and rear parking sensors, dusk sensing headlamps, rain sensing automatic wipers and electric fold door mirrors. Integrated Garmin satellite navigation (including five years of free map updates) is added to the Honda Connect infotainment system. Audiophiles will be attracted by the addition of a CD player and a premium eight-speaker, 320 watt stereo system upgrade

Are you ready for Type R?"

The hard bit is the pricing, which is at about 30,000 GBP for the entry level, and another 2,300 GBP for the GT model. That brings it into Subaru STI territory, which provides AWD and a host of other competing features.

Around 28 and 31 Lakhs in INR respectively before taxes.

    Whew. What a machine!

Did I mention it has a quad exhaust, and a double lip spoiler at the back? And it runs on 19 inch 235/35 profile tyres.

Interesting profile. To me it looks a tad too busy.

Yep. I hope they bring it here, which they generally don't. Would love to check it out in the flesh.
