Though I don't know who established this rule, that the human eye cannot distinguish changes above 30 frames per second and observes it as one fluid motion (or was it 24).

Just saw a 60Fps demo for the first time (yes, I know I'm like the Indian Police in movies, always late on the scene) and I was blown. It looked much more realistic, with the slightest of motion changes being logged/displayed/felt.

What's your take on it? ?

That depends on many thing, if there is way too much information change in frames, it might be hard to perceive.
For games, higher frames is better. I have noticed in certain movies, there are way too many frames and it gets very confusing especially in a action scene.

I just saw Ender's Game in 60fps, and I must say all the space sequences were mind blowing. It is a lot for the eye to process, since there is so much motion than usual. But it makes everything that much more realistic.

That 30fps rule only applies to film roll. In real life there is perceptible difference between 30 & 60 fps (is digital screens)

Normally 60fps is what we target because that's what most monitors and TVs support.

Gameplay data changes much more quickly than 24 fps and blur in the extra frames is actually disadvantageous.

There is a noticeable difference in the smoothness of actions and behavior of objects in motion. It's almost life like to be honest.

For games fps matters more it is better it is for FPS it matters.

Ask someone with twitchy aim and high speed movements in fights.

For gaming yes. 30fps is called playable, but it is barely so. A good gaming experience is at least 45+ frames per second.

But the impact in a movie/video is tremendous.
