According to an article on Gizmodo, Nielsen Soundscan released their 2014 Mid-Year Music industry report. And it seems that vinyls have grown in sales @40% while album sales were down 14%. This matched the trend of online streaming sales growing 42%. The growth in Vinyl sales have been at a volume of 4 million records in 2014 vs 2.9 million records in 2013 for the same period. Interesting bits - Frozen has been the number one album in most formats Pharrell Williams "Happy" has been the most played track on radio. Yep, but the repeat listening ability of vinyls is probably the worst. The track will sound the best at the first playback, and will eventually degrade with every repeat performance. Unless they've found some way to increase the life.
