So guys, I have decided to start on my Rig here in USA.

So, my Rig will have to wait till Nov I guess.

But I am getting confused with so many options here.

    What do I need?

    - A really sturdy workstation desk which can support 2-3 24" monitors + a Ten key less Keyboard + a mid sized Mousepad with a wired Mouse + 2 laptops + 10-15 Books + a Home Laser printer + Home speakers + Pro Headphones + 2 Tablets and couple of smartphones.

    - A mid grunt setup which shall be used as a programming environment primarily running Linux with Windows 7 in Dual boot mode. The Rig must be capable of handling Photo editing tools too like Lightroom/Dark Table etc. I shall be playing TF2 on Linux, so do not want any kind of jitter in game. Budget - 500$.

    - Need 2 Monitors each 22" as minimum. Budget 150$ for one monitor.

Ques 1. Are TVs any good as monitors?
Ques 2. I do not care AMD or Intel, I had a Intel i5 3650K and I loved it. What is more VFM by save Nov?
Ques 3. I will try not to get traditional HDDs anymore, SSDs are insanely fast and way ahead. Which ones are the best VFM at 512 GB size?
Ques 4. A Ten key less mechanical is absolute minimum, I don't like full keyboard and I need something tactile for programming and gaming.
Ques 5. How good is iGPU on modern Intel processors? Good enough or not?
Ques 6. Ikea does not make Jerker anymore, so what option do I have?

    Any other suggestions you have?

A wall mount would be ideal for your 3 monitors ..

A corner Workstation desk, Ikea Galant perhaps with the T-Legs as your base.

Something like above would be your ideal setup (Ikea Galant which would be about $240)

-- Buy some additional shelf for your books.
-- If you wall mount you can reclaim more desk space.
-- Remove the cabinet and place your printer below the desk in its place.
-- Two Laptops can also be accommodated.

DELL IPS screens since you'll be doing Photo Editing aka DELL S2340M at $150.

Ideally you should bump up your budget and get the DELL Ultrasharp 2312H at around $210.

Color Reproduction isn't accurate (overblown) , I'd say no.

    @BANHAMMER did some research recently,

Lightroom on an SSD works insanely well so yea ..
    Crucial M500 480 GB SSD.

    Calling @MOZ

    TF2 at 100fps is your requirement I believe ?

Try to pickup one off Craigslist if possible, also since you're going for Multi-Monitor setup an Jerker would be too small your needs.

No on the t.v. as monitor bit. I've tried it and regretted it.

4 - Factor in the sound a mechanical keyboard will make in an extremely quiet environment. I have a regular Logitech Keyboard that I use when someone's sleeping in the flat (yep the sound of the Razer is really high). I would recommend a second, generic keyboard as well.

5 - Not good enough, And if you are planning a multi-monitor setup, why not a decent mid-segment GPU as well?

6 - You could wall mount the LCDs, else get a height adjustable stand. I recommend keeping the monitor at a much higher elevation, than what's shown in the image above. I use a laptop stand for my lappy, and it's done wonders for my posture.

    Other bits -

What mouse? Get an ergonomic one for your office work, and a Gaming mouse for everything else.

I have gone for everything upper end. AMD should be good, but best value for money should be 4670 or 4770 depending on what you want to spend on processor.

For keyboard, depending on budget I would recommend a Cherry MX clear switches based keyboard, they are mech boards with a bump, however no noise.

So, clear switches are better than Red?

Since I cannot experience all what should I be looking at among all the different Cherry switches?
I have only used blue ones in TVS Gold.

Yes, Chair I forgot. Will get a good one.

Reds are linear, clear are tactile but do not clicky.

It really boils down to what you feel most comfortable with.

In general linear are recommended for gaming and tactile for typing, however we in the enthusiast circles firmly believe it comes down to personal preference.

Cooler master has a fairly inexpensive switch tester that you can buy to see what key switch you like best.

    Thanks for the reply.

After my limited research I think Cherry Brown switches are my need.

    Appreciate the inputs.

I should also post pictures of my ikea table, though the table is given to me by my landlady.

Sweet, what board have you decided on?

Browns and clear are similar, where the clear has a stiffer spring. I would however recommend trying a brown switch board somewhere first as most people have a either love-it/hate-it reaction with browns as they are neither completely tactile, nor linear.

Quickfire Rapid or Stealth with Brown switches 10 key less.
