Finally our Judiciary have shown some real balls and sentenced a lot of people for communal violence
The Hindu : News / National : Naroda riots: Kodnani gets 28 years in jail

There has been a lot of such decisions where our judiciary has came very strongly against powerful people. But on the other hand anything that involves really powerful people, our judiciary has not acted to it's fullest extent I am yet to see anyone from central Govt ever getting such severe punishment. I would say Corruption is pretty much in same league as genocide. My rational is simple if the money which should reach the people who need it, there would be much less mortality. We all know in this very country we have people dying from hunger or lack of shelter and not to mention a whole lot of very poor people have become Naxals, because our govt neglected them. The naxal problem is not without political motives, but at the very end of these groups, there are normal citizens of this country who could be swayed to act in such way.
The other question is whether or not there were bigger fishes involved in this case? Some of these people although involved directly were scapegoats for more powerful people?
    What are you views

Scapegoats have long been the norm. Be it the CWG scandal or Bofors or anything else for that matter. The Judicial system does come hard down when it does, however misses the ones actually responsible.

Al and one shoud be punished and there should be no leniency ! at all, but unfortunately that is not what happens, the judiciary itself is corrupt at most of the lower level and some of the higher sections !
so we should all be happy and keep waiting for a change !

When we talk corruption, why all fingers are pointing at others? we are corrupt too, why there is no ground for looking at ourselves first and change it.

that is because the system is forcing us to.. u want a telephone wire fixed at ur place .. yes as trivial as that .. u have to give chai-paani.. else next tym the wire will go .. and so wud the technician..

harsh reality of our system.. the change cannot start from the bottom... coz it wont ever reach the top.. it has to start from the top and trickle down to the bottom

No, you have to fight against it, it leads to frustrations and wastage of time, but it's possible to do such thing.

imagine a person with 10 to 8 job ... multiply by millions... and then think wastage of time or 'Convenience fee'... until and unless we have Top Hierarchy that has the will to be clean... we cant have trivial people like the technician clean... dont forget the various kinds of people... whom we 'TIP' mandatorily.. its not optional... the cabbie that never has change .. or the parking guy who wont give u a spot on a packed day etc etc... if we count .. all these are parts and ways and means of corruption

    Eg1

u go to buy some salt and sugar.. from the local grocer , and like always u r in a rush and the friendly uncle behind the counter gives it to u immediately and u pay and leave... thats corruption.. why coz you didnt take the bill helping him evade taxes..

    Eg2

u got to buy stuff from the market and buy from the hawker on the kerb.. thats corruption coz he is sitting there after paying GUNDA TAX to the cops illegally and anything he or you do with him is illegal.. so by helping him sell .. u are becoming ways and means of corruption

    Eg3

U go and cast your vote.. that is corruption .. and if u dont even that is corruption.. now you would ask me why... then the person you are electing is most likely already corrupt and is getting the chair by your vote( popular mandate) considering he is still not corrupt he sure has to become a part and parcel of the system..

and if u didnt then technically you made no effort to cleanse the system.. so again u r responsible...

man.. its impossible to make the system clean without starting from the top and trickling down.. only a stern and disciplinarian methodical way can now cleanse this GUTTER of corruption...
