With the launch of Android One Phones by the likes of Spice, MicroMax and Karbonn that are priced between 6-7K we are seeing phone specs that would've been priced much higher.

Simultaneously the lowering of license fees by Microsoft on Windows Mobile has resulted in several Companies to launch their Windows Mobile devices. Some of which offer specs better or comparable to the Lumia 5XX series, but at a price point that is much much lower.

For instance the Lumia 520/525 are around the 8.5-8.8K mark. However a company based in USA, BLU has launched two devices with better or comparable specs at 89$ or about 5.5K.

I do see this as a threat to the mid segment (if there can be considered one) that was the main stay for companies like Nokia (the semi-smart, keypad phones).

While increasing Google's dominance in the Mobile OS arena, it also spells prospective growth for Microsoft.

The lower end can only help boost sales and with Windows Mobile maturing further, can only help its growth.

Onto the next price war then :D
