it was Ubuntu Netbook remix for me Earlier purely for how the interface looked but now its Peppermint for me. blazing fast and lets you use ancient hardware as well.

It's hard to determine which is best.
    But
RHEL --> Corporate Server distro, most widely deployed Server OS
Debian --> the holy grail of Linux distro, which have more application than anyone else
Fedora --> a total developer's OS with bits common with RHEL
CentOS --> Free version of RHEL, pretty much same, however lacks support from Redhat
Ubuntu --> Debian's most popular child.
LinuxMint --> currently most popular distro and they say it's good.
ARchLinux --> not for faint hearts, very Linuxy compared to any distro.
Suse --> a very good distro, but it's not very popular or do not have a lot of packages and support, but has very pretty interface.

I seriously doubt i will try any other distro. I have been thinking of trying Arch linux for atleast last 1 year, but to no success.
However I have tried FreeBSD on virtual box, which was cool.

I am not that much good with linux.. but this Airch Linux version is pretty fast and very user friendly interface.. I definitely will try this one on pendrive.

    Arch Linux

    Release Info

The image can be burned to a CD, mounted as an ISO file, or be directly written to a USB stick using a utility like `dd`. It is intended for new installations only; an existing Arch Linux system can always be updated with `pacman -Syu`.
    Existing Arch Users

If you are an existing Arch user, there is no need to download a new ISO to update your existing system. You may be looking for an updated mirrorlist instead.
    BitTorrent Download (recommended)

If you can spare the bytes, please leave the client open after your download is finished, so you can seed it back to others. A web-seed capable client is recommended for fastest download speeds.
