    Or just to show that they are eco friendly decided to invest in a little show and tell, Rain harvesting and a Solar panel power plant to offset their Carbon footprint.



    Ok, on a serious note, yes, they had to take notice, coz no matter how big you get, the smallest entities can teach you a lot, and the open source community had software that was slim, fast, customizable, yes however requiring some technical know how.

    However with the big bucks that they made on software is what made them and keeps them dominant, and that is something open source cannot deny.

    If I start quoting what Bill gates have said against open source over the years about open source, we will probably have biggest thread here.

    It's too big now, saying against them is a bad bad idea.
    They have to send patches for hypervisor. Linux is way too big in virtualization space.

    What about MS's contribution to Hadoop and Node, two of the most public and influential OPP projects.

    This is true. MS has always been aggressive. I know "My computer" since 1995, came to know about Linux post 2007!
