What what WHAAATT.. ??
DorksterBoiGenius. Will be visiting NP on Monday or Tuesday. Sorry for the delay.
So the Samsung Series 5 NP550 seems to the be the finalist ..
Core i7 3rd Gen + 8GB + 1TB + nVidia 650M + 15.6" 1600x900 display.
I should be able to get if for a net price of 55k (after discount) on Saturday.
Other consideration were..
Samsung NP530 - 14" - i5 2nd Gen + 6GB + 1TB + ATI 7550 - 52k
HP Envy 4 - 14" - i5 3rd Gen + 4 GB + 500GB. + ATI 7670 - 52k
So finalized the following --
1. Samsung NP550-P5C S02IN ( core-i7 3610QM 2.3 Ghz upto 3.3Ghz in turbo mode + 8GB + 1TB + nVidia 650M + Blur-ay Drive) = 60k (54k after discount)
2. Samsung NP550-P5C S01IN ( core-i5 3210M 2.5 Ghz upto 3.1Ghz in turbo mode + 6GB + 1TB + nVidia 650M+ MultiDrive) = 51k (46k after discount)
I have a budget of 54k so I can get either of the models.
Since there is a 9k price difference between the 2 specs.
Should I get the future proof core-i7 right now or get the core-i5 and upgrade it with an SSD/RAM etc ?

AFAIK 15.6" laptop chassis don't have 2 HDD bays so I would need to remove the Optical drive and put the SSD in its place ?
unless you need the bdr, you would be better off with ci5 model. invest the money on ssd, that ram is more than enough for average users.
you are right about the bay thing. you will need to buy a ssd caddy, if at all one comes for these asus models. caddys are more common for business laptops.
p.s: i have not followed this thread. so i am taking it that you are an average user (playing games, watching movies and blah) with no high end memory hogging multithreading app needs.
the second one seems to be a good option with a ssd upgrade ...
Apart from the usual Multimedia/Entertainment ..
Nothing work related as such .. just tinkering stuff.
Linux VM, Android Emulators and related work.
then i5 with 6gb ram is enough for you .. taking in hand your not gonna do some hd video rendering and stuff ... games will suffice on the config ...
No HD video rending stuff ... no 3D work.
The main reason I settled for this config is that .. it offers 1600x900 resolution at this price range.
go for it then
or you can do as we decided last night..
wait.. what was that ..
ooo yeaa ..
dafuq is goin on here ?
dbg - make a purchase already, before Intel announces their new range of mobile processors and you stall your purchase further
yea .. also with win8
I got the funds ready just waiting for the discount coupon to arrive ..
I'll be buying the Win 8 upgrade package ..
you did have a thread for the xuv ? .. .
