As you all know that I possess a pretty awesome player D2, which is coupled with Fiio e5. The player has one of the best audio quality known for portable players. Also in order to accessorize the device I have two SD cards 16GB class 4 and 32 GB class 10. Lately the PMP is giving me some trouble. One of the trouble is that + button doesn't increase the sound all the time sometimes it decreases the sound the other major problem is that it doesn't recognize the file name a lot of time or any other song meta data especially if anything was placed on native hard drive, however the songs from SD cards are played fine. But lately, it sometimes do not recognize SD cards, it cannot seek to next song causing it to reboot. I think the problem might be the hard drive(or whatever native memory) is going bad on the device or filesystem is getting corrupt all the time. The device is about 3+ years old. I am not sure if it time to retire the device and look for new one. Should the smart phones fulfil that requirement because after having used one of the best audio on the market I sure would be very fussy about audio quality. Any views/suggestions/recommendations?
Smartphones won't give you that level of fidelity. In the Smartphone league however the Galaxy S4 has a pretty good performing DAC. You also have the iPhone which have traditionally been superior .. but capacity might be an issue. I would suggest you stick to a dedicated PMP apart from regular smartphone as Mp3 playback is a battery hog too .. (I've personally noticed)
The new cowon's all have touch controls .. Will that affect your decision ? Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
