So i was bored, and had a little bit of work at chandigarh. i could have delegated it , very easily. But I said, what the heck. so told the family to pack up and let's go! they'll stay put at a relative's while i finish my work and then we will head out to shimla or something. that wasn't to be. A lot of engagements came up at the last moment so family couldn't go. fine, ill head out alone 0500 - wake up 0546 - engine start, trip meter set 0850 - 'welcome to chandigarh' now,i was expecting to finish work by 11-12 or so and head out to shimla or maybe kasauli. but i got free only at 3. post that, drove down to shimla. took a stroll at the mall and headed back. yeah, 15 minutes of shimla back home at sometime close to midnight. fuel economy to chandigarh: 19.2 rest, didnt care
When did you make the trip? How fast did you drive to make it to Chandigarh in 3 hours? Did you make any pit stops? I heard the highway has been undergoing a lot of construction off late and was completely dug up. The last time I drove down to Chandigarh was in 2010 and was surprised to see so many flyovers constructed, literally bypassing every small town on the way and saving a butt load of time. But hey, that was a pretty eventful trip, you managed to cover alot of places. How long did it take you to drive back from Shimla?
kauffmann, it is very much possible now, I have loads of friends in Chandigarh who do the trips to Delhi every weekend.. rpm, wtf !!!! 15 minutes of Mall.. !! what an amazing driving experience average includes the hill drive too?
no, the average does not include the hill drive.it must have been around 10-12 out there. as far as how fast i drove for chd.. tried to keep a minimum 80. went upto 155. yes, quite a few diversions. also, there was this hr26 registered 320d, in a subtle race with me, from delhi bypass itself. I am not going to claim that i smoked the guy . but he kept getting pawned by my loony driving. in the end, he was trailing me on the last red signal we crossed. i do think that as you buy costlier cars, the freedom to drive in manner of your choice reduces. I know i drive a bit more cautiously than santro ppl, not trying to fit in to places, sticking to right most lane on packed roads etc. sucks honestly. i wouldn't want to own a large engine car if i know i cant deploy all of them horses, atleast oncce everyday.
Interesting point made there, but I think that is only true for people who are getting larger engines by spending a larger sum of their income than they should and are aware of this. Whenever you buy a car, you should take into consideration the after purchase costs, repairs, maintenance and that should not have a major setback on your budget, and provide you the freedom that you want when driving the vehicle.
Time to take the Duke corner carving... I did the old highway on a Mint condition Karizma way back in 2005. And leaning that bike on the curves was so much fun! Did 100-110 on some stretches. The Duke should be even more crazier! Anyone for a bike ride? harryneopotter . Short stopover in Panchkula, next morning simla, then back in the evening and then home the next day?
Nah.. the weather is getting better day by day.. Ideal time would be right before monsoons, so that no rains.. but its gonna be Fun!!! You are gonna love leaning the FZ on the turns...
