Beam Telecom blocked the websites as per the court orders , but only for a day. Now its back to normal.

Besides there are hundreds of proxy/clones for thepiratebay.

The Supreme Court has asked the Ministry of IT and Telecom to review their blocking policy as the order was to block content not websites.

I don't think the Anonymous protests would have much effect on the government. Especially since the orders are court directives, there's very little that the government can do. Savita bhabi, the oh so famous Indian ?#@*&%!^$~ comic also seems to be working intermittently every now and then, though the website is extremely slow.

The protests could very much make the government relook into the policies and formulate some rules or legislate thereby circumventing the court directives, but that in my opinion is highly unlikely, given the huge corporate/film industry lobby considering all the players and parties involved.

Considering the threat Anonymous poses to the government websites, the government is highly unlikely to do anything on the policy front to appease the small fragmented masses that support the movement, but much rather to make their backbone infrastructure more robust in order to better deal with such attacks. Given the patheticity, utter dismal and deplorable condition of the government websites in our country on the fronts of security, design, etc. I think the government better rework their strategy of getting their websites designed by amateurs (mostly Tayaji ka munda who did his BCA and knows how to marquee) and have a separate Design and Security team that undertakes management and supervision of such projects being outsourced to private firms, maybe an umbrella firm even since all departments or ministries can't afford to have a fully operational and dedicated team of experts.
