So on an epic vella whim I decided to reset my HTC One Mini. After about 9 months of moderate usage. It's running Android 4.4.2.
Copied everything to my pc and just did a full reset. The results were nothing short of impressive. It was like I had a new phone in my hand all over again.

Query to all the phone experts. Is there a way to keep this from happening? Or just like Symbian of yore, if you want your phone to be fast and smooth just reset everything once a year?

    Thanks in advance!

Root, install an AOSP based ROM.

I'm guessing AOSP stands for open source type? Suggestions on any ROM for the HTC One Mini.

If I can remove the useless crap from it, it would be very welcome!

Yes , AOSP is the plain stock ROM that is released for by Google. Third Party Devs would repackage that AOSP ROM with the right drivers for you HTC so that you can install it there,

Look up Cyanogen Mod for HTC One Mini.

Atleast not until they roll out the next google device. I am too lazy/engaged to get into whole rooting business.

Don't you feel that the device is bloated with unwanted apps? Google apps?

2 Years from Google Directly, after that the Third Party Devs take over.

The Android L preview which was launched exclusively for the Nexus 5 is has now been modded to run on the Nexus 4 even by the Devs.

Root is your friend, Root the phone and uninstall every app you dont need.

And Google Apps don't bloat as much as the Custom UIs of HTC or Samsung do.
Motorola is good in this case however.

It might be bloated but still works faster than most things.

I did, used it for a week and gave it to the missus. The battery would barely last me 12-13 hours :(

But i do agree totally on the speed and UI.
