I agree with Raja here. Adding a Sub won't just make the bass heavy (like I incorrectly implied in my reply above). You can set the gain and let it feed you the lower range of frequencies as well.

Though I'm not too sure, but would heavy metal use lower frequencies? Like sub 80 hz?

I don't like bass to overshadow anything, surely. Only thing which I find lacking in a lot of setup is response to real double bass drums. Twin double bass drums are very hard to hear properly on recorded audio anyway, so I don't know if I even have source to justify it. Only time you can hear proper twin bass is at live concert. Also bass solos are something which are not too uncommon in Metal, so responsiveness is important. I am not sure if I am even looking at the right parameters. But I am more or less sold on the idea of buying these monitors. I am just trying to find more about them, probably I would read further on speakers.

Monitors would ideally give you 0-0 sound. the way it was recorded. Since if I understand correctly, they are designed to have a uniform response across the entire frequency range that they can handle.

Though a lot would depending on your audio processing as well (Equalizer, Amplifier etc).

I support your decision to go for a 2 speaker setup, It'll add to your oomph value as well :D

yeah, these speakers won't get me laid for sure. Surely I am not virgin anymore otherwise my setup would have protected my virginity.
I understood the idea of stereo like 5 years back after having two sets of 5.1 speakers.

You gotta invest in a good stereo amp mate. A Yamaha at the very least.
