So the iPhone 5s days are over. I enjoyed it while it lasted and now the phone is with the missus. Her new upgrade over the 808.

    requirements -
compact. IPhone like compact, not note 2 like.

Battery life - is a must since I'll be making most use of my 10gb per month data free here.

Support for apps - like tapatalk, nimbuzz, Skype etc.

    Others - decent camera.

Looking at the S 4 mini. Or the new nexus 5. What say guys?

these 'mini's are shit. even worse when they are samsung. my note I has been very laggy lately. even though i run it rather clean. i am not buying another samsung phone.

actually, same with samsung tab 2. it's sometimes so slow i could compare it with ubislate.

I can think a lot of them. Mediocre screen, battery and hardware. Totally not worth 22K.
In that price range you have Xperia SP and Nexus 4.
IMHO stay away from Samsung (except the note series) :p

    Get the Nexus 5 \m/

Okay, that's some stuff. Now what do I look at. I don't wanna spend too much, since this would mostly be a workhorse phone. Sold all of my 'spare' phones here. (Apparently, you can get 4k for a 2 yr old Nokia E5 here, which would not sell for more than 2k in India!).

How about a iPhone 4S? (should get one good second hand for about 17-18k INR).

The Nexus 5 is around 34k INR here. Still quite out of my range. The Xperia SP is around 20K which is decent, since that was what I was planning to spend.

Hehe.. You mentioned Nexus 5 in the first post :p

Anyways Xperia SP and Nexus 4 are currently the best mid-range androids for me.

Xperia SP is a good device. But not sure if it will get any future updates or not (currently not on Sony's list of devices). Also the display is a bit dull with poor viewing angles.

    Nexus 4 now costs 22K.

    IOS fan now? ;)

I didn't realize how expensive it was. :p

Not really an iOS fan, need something as a workhorse. Currently converting my Razr Maxx to run my number, and putting my other number in my old and faithful N8.

Anything else that you would suggest? Other than Sony then?

If battery is a priority then both Nexus4 and Xperia SP will disappoint.
And in that price range I don't see any other phone worth buying. :(

BTW Lumia 920 costs 23K now :giiggle:

what is lg g2 costing there?

the advantage of buying a nexus is that you are pretty much set for 18 months of official upgrades and then the community support is going to linger for a fair while.

The Xperia SP has good batter life ..

LG G2 is really the latest Battery Champ, though flagship expensive.

The Nexus 4 isnt for battery life but you'll love the phone for everything Android .. KitKat 4.4 is makes it even more smooth.

Thanks DBG for helping out. Got a HTC One Mini. Thanks @rpm for steering me away from Samsung. The S4 Mini does not compare with the way this feels to hold and operate. Almost like a slimmer/sleeker version of the iPhone 5!
