Source: Narendra Modi gives primacy to Hindi in Bhutan - The Hindu
Good trend this guy is setting, he would be doing that at the UN also.
I don't find it very productive, but who knows something good might come out of it?
Lots of other world leaders address in their native language, its a way of showing influence & command.
But India is much more diverse. Plus we often influence too much anglosphere by our English speaking abilities.
An address in Hindi would have the maximum reach even in India, its a break from our usual tradition - and has attracted the right sort of attention. We're all talking about it arent we, more people will listen in and pay attention even back home - I'd say mission accomplished.
See, I am not denying the obvious benefits, but I am looking for what could be backlash, if any.
You can never be too cautious about stuff.
