    Hi folks ..

So i'll be visiting home for my Christmas vacations .. (away from the 15mbps broadband :()
I need some 3g/2g Data Dongle to keep me online ..

The dongle usage will primarily be for traveling .. (which I don't do much) and as a Backup connection.

Is there any prepaid type system .. Pay as you use ?

My phone is on its last limb so tethering is not an option.

    TIA

I think airtel and tata photon have plans. Though stay away from photon. Look at the 3G offerings from Airtel and Vodafone.

Photon once you get, is really hard to disconnect. You have to put in a written request, then they send you a bill for the usage from the time of request till processing, and then you clear the bill, and then you let go of it! arrgh!

Finally settled on my trusty DEFY with Vodafone 3G ..
Used bluetooth tethering for my browsing needs.

    Much cheaper .. 250 for 1GB

Do you have any other 3g phones??

And doesn't the Motorola have option of connecting laptop to internet? Thru data cable ?

Why not use it as a mobile hot spot and get better data speeds. Bluetooth will be slower

Na.. Bluetooth tethering works great even with 3G .. I get full speeds.
Bluetooth can transmit around 1MBps easily so 3G tethering is easy.

Mobile Hotspot takes up too much battery ..

I don't have the Phone Cable.. and with Bluetooth I can place the phone on charging while I use it.
