What could be the most important launch for Maruti Suzuki following the launch of the Ertiga is this. The replacement to the M800, the Alto800. drawing inspiration from the i10 ( for the rear), the eon/i20 ( for the sides and front ), and the Figo ( for the front bumper/bonnet/indicators ), it looks like a lot of mash. The long proportions don't do it justice. But hey, people movers can't really be good looking now, can they. ( yup they can ). According to insiders, it appears inspired by the A-star for the rear. Which is pretty evident in this shot. The girly eyelashes remind me of a car from another era though - Yup, you guessed it, Amitabh Bachchan's Ram pyari from the move Akayla!! Bottomline, trying too hard to be an EON, however failing. They need to redesign the box shape and go with a new design ( ground up ), rather than reshaping and re-forming existing body styles. A very simple and easy example in front of them of excellent packaging and space is the Nano itself. Maruti needs to think out of the box. Oh wait, they don't need to. Its a Maruti, will still sell 20,000 + units a month and be an eyesore! Due credit to the guys at cardekho and oncars.in for the pics.
