Essentially a tablet running Android 5.0 and a custom Nokia Launcher called Nokia Z launcher.

    First up some images -

This device appears to be iPad mini sized.

A view of the Nokia Z Launcher. It's a custom Launcher that is intuitive and adapts to the user's requirements.
    Next up, Dimensions -

    Nokia N1 height.jpg

This device is bang on iPad Mini territory with a 200 mm height (same as the mini)

    Nokia N1 breadth.jpg

The breadth is slightly more (by about 4 mm) than an iPad Mini

    Nokia N1 thickness.jpg

However it's a whole 0.6 mm thinner than the Mini, making this as thin as the iPhone 6.

In short, this is a genuine attempt. The name Nokia and Android together would go really really well. And plus, adding the dimensional appeal of an already established tablet size, means that they are playing it safe. Which is good, really good.

Now the important bit is, how much are they planning to sell this for? And do we get a 3G/4G version as well?

Oh and you can try the Z launcher on your Android device, Just download it from Play store.

So as per an agreement with Microsoft, Nokia cannot make Smartphones (at least their own branded) for another two years. This is to prevent instant competition to Microsoft. However there's nothing that's keeping them from making tablets.

Going with an established form factor (iPad Mini), not only gets them the familiarity that Samsung has been capitalizing on for so long, but also makes them a very suitable and viable alternate.

This is expected to be priced at 249$. which is a great deal IMO.
