Not to be confused with the X2-00 and the X2-01 of yore.

With 1GB Ram, Dual Core processor, a front camera (though VGA), flash along the main camera and a dedicated home button.

Something that I (personally) was waiting for all along. Here is a device that allows you to run Android without all the extra apps that Google has to offer. You can Skype, use the Built in offline Here maps for navigation, chat and do all the regular activity one would on such a device.

What's impressive also is the 1800mAH battery, which should provide more than sufficient juice to run the 480x800 resolution screen and the lower hardware spec.

First up, some images from Nokia.com -

The most noticeable change on the front is the Home button.

    Nokia-X2-Dual-SIM-design.jpg

It comes with the transparent plastic bezel that covers the housing. Something I'm not too fond of, since it tends to get scratched easily. It does maintain the uniformity of the design. And for some reason I like the chunkiness (No I am not being partial towards Nokia in any way :D )

Fast lane is very much present, which is actually something that one can get used to. What I like is the fact that they have included a LED flash to give the camera some credibility. If the camera on the 620-630 is anything to go by, the 5MP should be snappy enough to do daily duty.

One of the main reasons why I'd probably not look anywhere else, and it's Here maps. They work and they work really really well. Though the official specs don't mention built in GPS they do mention GLONASS, which is the Russian equivalent of the same. Position fix shouldn't be an issue.

You also get 7GB of free One Drive storage, with one month free calling on Skype.

I do like the size of the screen - 4.3 inches makes it just right, though pixel mongers might have an issue with clarity and detail. It's a ClearBlack screen (no idea what that means :D ).

If only they were smart enough to go on this road earlier.

You said it. Micro max and the likes would have not stood a chance. Though it's mature of Microsoft to go with AOSP and not shove Windows down everyone's throat

Beg to differ here. The 8.1 is a well developed OS, just that yes, it needs a bit more refinement. But given a choice between a bloated Android device, I would pick the 8.1.

This Nokia X2, purely for the fact that it's Google free, does appeal a lot to me. Anyone interested in a 6 month old HTC One Mini?

Looks like this might get discontinued even before launch. From what I understand some pieces have gone on sale in Europe and the UK.

Searching for this phone online has proven to be fruit less. So now it's a toss up between this and the new Jolla running Sailfish OS.
