According to a tweet by OnePlus a few minutes ago -

The launch is supposedly planned for London, on the 29th of October. Rumored specs are a 5 or 4.9 inch Full HD display, 2Gb of RAM, running either a MediaTex 6795 or SnapDragon 801. 13MP Sony camera sensor at the back and a 8 Mp in the front. The battery capacity is believed to be 2450 mAH.

With those specs, it isn't really a mini offering, however how well they pack the screen is to be seen. Dimensions according to a Chinese website are 140 x 69 x 6.9 mm which put it in the league of the iPhone 6 (slightly bigger in height and width).

The important bit would be pricing. The SnapDragon 801 is not that old a chip that it cannot be considered relevant today. If the performance of the Z3 Compact is anything to go by, this might be a slightly lower performing device to reckon (720P display vs 1080p).

So the device was launched yesterday -

    Oneplus X 01.jpg

Specs are pretty flagship (2014) with SnapDragon 801, 3Gb Ram, 13MP rear sensor and a 8 MP front. The device dimensions are at par with an iPhone 6 or a Redmi 2 with dimensions of 140 x 69 x 6.9 mm. The iPhone 6S by comparison is 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1.

Emphasis is more on the design and premium feel of the device. As most of you must've already read, the ceramic finish takes 24 days to complete, and is going to be limited to around 10,000 pieces only.

The flip side is the price which is 17K for the onyx finish and around 22k for the ceramic finished device. With Oxygen OS running on Android 5.1.1 it is a unique proposition.

By comparison, a Mi4 features the same specs, a better F/1.8 Camera vs the F/2.2 on the X, higher battery life, same screen size and resolution. It measures nearly the same at 139.2 x 68.5 x 8.9 mm

The OnePlus X or OnePluX offers Dual SIM and expandable memory upto 128 Gb via Micro SD (only one SIM can then be used).

The Mi4 does not offer these features, but comes in at 15,000 for the 16 Gb and 18,000 for the 64 Gb model, which makes it crucial in this low-price-flagship-spec segment.
