The raw transfer speed is still 6 Gbps. I was using Ext4 as main filesystem.
On different file systems the speed would differ. Theoretically it is possible to achieve that speed.
But modern filesystem will have encoding schemes and then other IO penalties, not to mention overhead caused by userspace program.

Oh I did forget to mention various caches in question.

You forgot the most important thing, the actual physical limitation of the spinning disks.

that should be already accounted for, when they are giving out the speed of the Drive.

Anyway, I am going to run bonnie and iozone on the drive along with hdparams

Oh my god, is it so hard to admit that you are wrong, and the HDDs won't achieve speeds of 6Gbps, that is the SATA 3 bandwidth, and there is no way the WD Green will even get close to it.

    Check this spec sheet: http://www.wdc.com/wdproducts/library/SpecSheet/ENG/2879-771438.pdf

The max you can get according to WD from host to buffer is 147MB.

It also says buffer to host speed is 6Gbps? Doesn't it?
So if you have cached data in disk buffer, you should be able to get that transfer speed.

So for 64 MB data, it can transfer at 6 Gbps.

Yes it can. Just like L1 and L2 cache on the processor.

Edit - Why not make the whole HDD out of the stuff they make the buffer out of. Bazinga!

You know SSDs are example of such hard drives anyway.
L1 and L2 caches are made up of S-Ram. SRams are extremely fast and extremely expensive.

    Aaila. damages?

These look like they have quite the range needed. What's the frequency response like?

    power rating?

And you need a better camera.

    These are £198.
They are very responsive, I have been blasting some quality rock and roll and I am pleased. Absolutely clear sound, bass is perfect without any muffing or over shadowing any frequency.

I have not even cranked them, but they sound monstrous even at 10% volume.
