no, wait. at least L+2. I have to have system resources to support this additional data going into the db. plus, 'subscribed threads' is a workaround.
New User Notification System NUNS (New User Notification System) | XenForo Community Cost: FREE System to create welcome messages/threads/posts automatically for newly registered users.
no. never. reason: if i have 50 members signing on a day, i will have 50 automatic posts/threads. kills a user's individuality. the user might have his own ideas about how to get introduced to the community?
Naah.. We wont create be creating threads.. that would be stupid Plugin can do other things like make profile posts of a Welcome message..
Also .. this is something rpm was talking about.. A simple non-intrusive message for guests to register. alternatively it can also be used instead of the "New User Notification System" also .. Notifications - powered by Gritter Notifications - powered by Gritter | XenForo Community Cost: 10 GBP
Something else.. A minor UI change.. In the top nav bar with [HOME] [COMMUNITY] [WHATS NEW] [MEMBERS] [USER ALBUMS] [RAID MARKET] [TEAM101] [HELP] we can relocate the [USER ALBUMS] to under the [MEMBER] menu. To me the Nav bar seems congested and user albums would also be relevant in its new location.
Already installed. Still testing. Infact I have been involved the development of this. I debated about this at great extent with JD666, I also wanted something like this, but then JD explained clearly why it is not useful, and I too realized the same. Reason being, no need for welcome message/post, to robotic, second the user might be lurker, not interested in in socializing but just looking around. Enforcing ourselves. What we can do is use the notification to have a small welcome message for users for the first 1 day they register on the site.
Definitely on the cards, but at the moment, honestly, our infrastructure is on the bordering as far as addons go (Bear in mind that we have taken into consideration that we still have to install some more for the SEO/Social networking), so now all novelties are being kept for later launches, we can mod and change what we have as much as we want, but anything not required, not now. --- Double Post Merged, Jul 17, 2012 --- I approve. However I'll wait for others to give their approval as well.
While we're at this can we also fix the User Albums? A limit of 15pics makes it impossible to have a proper album in there.
Aren't there a lot of image hosting sites already in existence, can't we use some kind if integration with them?
2 Problems with doing it that way: 1. All image hosting sites are hardly doing it to be nice guys They Always want something in return. 2. For almost all sites I've had a good 30% (Give or take) of my traffic came from Google Images. If we do this.. we're simply giving them our traffic. (Ofcourse my sites were much more graphic intensive than this site's ever going to be, but still)
If the server is a concern, once we see the need, we can get a secondary server for all the static stuff
image management is a tricky thing, so i donno if managing it ourself is such a great idea. Storage ofcourse is another concern.
