Why not start with the details of car audio equipment you guys own ?

Just mention the head unit make/model, the speakers size/model, the amplifier/subwoofer if any. Wiring probably. Damping? Adding more details/highlights around any of the above equipment is always appreciated.

Don't mention the budget. Instead just mention what you like about your (or you family car's audio) and what things you miss.

To keep the ball rolling, I'll start with mine:

Head Unit: Pioneer DEH-80PRS (Audiophile grade circuitry. Three way adjustable HPF/LPF filters wth variable slopes. Individual 24 bit DACs for each channel. Auto Time Alignment, Auto EQ. Supports lossless (.wav) formats.)

Front Speakers: Hybrid Audio Technology Clarus C61-2 (Stiff Paper cone for balanced mid range tonality. Component system with crossovers tuned at 5KHz. Waterproof.)

    Rear Speakers: None

Amplifier: Celestra FA475x (4x75W @ 4ohms, 4x175W @ 1 ohm stable, double balanced differential topology, unregulated power supply, inbuilt low-pass and high-pass filters.)

Subwoofer: Some old school Clarion Dual Voice Coil 10 incher (nothing special except that it adds in some thump to the music when required :p)

Speaker Wires: Monster Extra Low Noise braided copper cables (very less voltage drop and pass clean signal)

Interconnect Cables: Monster Extra Low Noise Version 4 multichannel cable (again clean signal transmission and very less voltage drop)

Damping: Dynamat Extreme (only on the front doors)

The best thing about this system is the mid range (and lemme tell you that I am sucker for that. Norah Jones tsk tsk :D). The current HU that I own offers me numerous system level settings to shape the sound. For the nerds that we are, what else is needed. I just change the sound signature every other day and keep fiddling with the settings. Just love the tweakbility.

I only wish I could get a better sub but I can make do with it for a while, till I accrue enough monies to upgrade to better sub (Rainbow vanadium/profi).

Why don't you guys mention what you own ?

    Car - Astar

    Headunit - Stock Nippon HU

Speakers - 6 inch JBL 2 way speakers in the front door, and 5 1/2 inch JBLs in the Rear door.

Subwoofer - Xenos 7 inch Active Sub underneath the passenger seat.

Future upgrades - A good 4 channel amp to power the 4 JBLs, and a better HU

    Car - Nano

Sound system - Should I even mention??? :D

Though yeah... a flashback in time -

    Year 1998-2000 -

    HU - Pioneer 6950 + Nakamichi 12 channel equilizer

    Amp - 1x4Channel + 1xSony222 + 1xAudioZone 2channel amp

    Speakers -

    - Some random tweeters on the dash.

    - 3 1/2 inch Pioneer speakers in dedicated wooden boxes beneath the dash ( Speakers + Tweeters running off the 222 Amp )

    - TS2090, 6 Inch Pioneer 3 Way speakers ( 110W RMS ) In the rear, running off the 4Channel amp bridged for 2Channel operation ( around 80W RMS )

    - 2XPioneer 303F ( 12 inch, free air subwoofer ~ 150-200W RMS each ) in a Custom Sealed enclosure made of 1 inch MDF with loads of damping ( Some dude from Pioneer in Brazil, gave me the idea that the Free Air Sub works great in a sealed enclosure of about 1.1 cu ft each. ) The box weighed 17 kgs by itself, 24kgs with the subs installed. The subs were running in parallel off the Audiozone in bridged mode ( around 300-350W RMS )

And All this Shoehorned into what?

    A M800.

Damn if you wanted a 4 channel amp, you should have told me. I still have this kenwood KAC 8401, 100db senstivity 4 channel amp. Super amp for the money you pay for it. I just sold it to one of the fellows in Delhi for 3500 :( Didn't want to sell it so kept it with for but then I thought I am not gonna use it so better sell it.

Where is that nakamichi equalizer now ?

^^ Lying somewhere at my place... The system was dismantled when I failed in an exam in 11th grade in 2001.

I had a spare HU lying around, and there were enough components to make sound systems for 3 cars!

Not funny... especially when you spent more than a year assembling the whole thing yourself, wiring, routing, enclosures, everything! :(

^^ Thats the peak O/P bhai. There will be a rated output of 13Wx4 or 17W or even in case of company like sony, 22Wx4 ( with a higher percentage of THD ).

Yup it is quite decent for a budget of 6k-7k.
Another thing is instead of pendrive get a mircoSDHC card with an adapter. Tested out class4 8gb card with adapter the scan speed is a lot faster than that on a pen-drive. Loaded with 350 songs.
