okay, i will b buying a ssd in the next wee, only a 60gig one though cause they are just too expensive anyway wanted to ask exactly what all i should do with it in order to get the most out of it was thinking of putting windows and most frequently used softwares on it [mayb even a game ] any ideas how to use it to the max ?? [which softwares to install on it and such ]
A 60 gig wont give you much option to partition and keep 2 drives ( one for OS and other for games ). Other option is to install the OS and games only on the SSD. Or wait it out slightly longer and get a bigger SSD.
ill b making one partition only , just want to know what programs to install on it .. right now i can only think of the browsers , music player and a few others .. want to know if there are any thing other that i can put on this ssd ... and if there is any space left then i can install a game
Pagefile who needs a pagefile in todays systems?? I would advise to keep all your installations on the ssd, games installed on ssd to but if you can segregate the data stored to another drive then its best.
not looking to spend alot ... buying a 60 gig only so are pagefiles imp ? cause thats like 8 gigs of space .. so if i remove that and hibernation then windows only takes like 20 gigs then .. and then i got shit loads of stuff to put in it
Yes, with ssd's and lots of ram, pagefile becomes redundant, keep a 500 mb pagefile and you will be fine. also the hybernation file is the same size in default state as the capacity of ram installed, you can safely let it be 50% of its size !! thus gaining useful space.
Why not use it for ready boost? wait ....same principle as pagefile! you will need a bigger ssd. At least windows7 onwards, if you drag your special folders viz: documents, audio, video etc to another partition, windows will remember it. Even better after formatting, you drag it once again and replace it and viola! windows remembers it once again. No more pain like the old Xp days. So effectively, keep only your programs on the SSD and os, let everything else go to your hdd.
60 Gig should be enough .. (though its always a risky statement in Storage ) Do you have a loaded Steam account by any chance ??
yup i do have a steam acct , but the data isnt on the os disk btw , any1 know how much time corsair takes to RMA a ssd ?
