Most juices sold in India contain more sugar than colas – Quartz
Drinking packaged fruit juices which are not 100% from the fruit.
In India and pretty much every where, juices are sold under two categories, fruit juice beverage, and fruit juice.
It's the beverage that has excess sugar and flavoring to make it taste like juice but essentially adds nothing to our nutrition but sugar.
The fruit juice variety is slightly better with no added sugar but other additives to keep the juice fresh.
So next time read what you are picking up, juice beverage or juice.
Do they even label it in India. Food regulation are almost non existence in India.
Yes you can read labels like " Fruit Beverage, Fruit juice drink" clearly on the carton, unless you are really blind.
Also the pulp and sugar free ones would be generally expensive by about 40-50 Rs easily.
In a club or a bar, never order mocktails, you are better off drinking plain soda. They use all these "fruit beverages" for that cranberry vodka you having.
never bought a packaged juice in India, NOT EVEN ONCE.
Mausami ka ras for the win!!!! real mausami real juice and lot of disease. yeah I like my juice the way I like my immunity.
+1 to that.
I am generally never in favor of packaged juices, real fresh juice FTW always.
hard to get it outside India.
Lies, buy fresh fruit and squeeze at home.
it is a mess, I have done it couple of times.
Plus mausamis in UK are not same as mausamis in India. Grape fruit are ?#@*&%!^$~ing too sour here.
Grape fruit is eww
Grape fruit is mausami, how could it be eww?
^^ not the grapefruit I get here. I like the old type (Kino I think in Hindi). I tried grapefruit here and it was sour as hell.
There are other fruits you can use, and want kind of juicer are you using? Because citrus fruits have to be squeezed in a very different manner as the seeds are what makes it bitter.
I know mate. This was freshly squeezed and bottled Bel Monte juice. Anyhow I'm just gonna stick to the regular Kinnows.
Did they squeeze the juice in front of you? If not, then it isn't fresh. It is a known fact, truly fresh juices should be consumed as soon as they are squeezed, even after half an hour, their taste changes, and it just isn't the same.
Possibly could be the reason.
lies, lies I refuse to believe that. Tropicana will never lie to me.
I saw this video recently. I've been purchasing packs of Florida orange, that offer 100% juice only, with either Most Pulp or No Pulp Variety.
Honestly, they taste really nice, and do not have sugar in them (no after taste), but I'm pretty sure they have flavors added to enhance the taste.
So I finally decided to let it all go, and got myself a Juicer. The regular rotary kind, citrus juicer. 60Watts, Kenwood, with a 1Liter collection jug.
It takes about 2-3 minutes to juice 4 Oranges/Kinnows/whatever they are called, but it is as fresh as it gets.
Like a number of people in this video, I still prefer the Florida Orange flavor over the freshly squeezed ones. But the fact that it is as fresh as it can get, has kept me juicing them oranges.
Another bearing factor (major) is the cost. A 1.5 Liter carton costs over 500 Rs. A 3 Kg pack of Oranges that will yield me about the same juice, about 200 Rs.
Separate names with a comma.
