Ah, your first lap will be the fastest no doubt. But then it doesnt really help much with the rest of the session. Try it out and let us know how it goes. Warmup and cooldown are very important, its like stretching before and after working out.
Even Micheal phelps would second alternate breathing.
But if you want to feel more proportionate , try breathing after every 3 strokes. You will breath through each hand like this and your weak hand will get some hard work as well.
Hmm, try drinking more water a couple of hours before swimming maybe, so its all sweated out in the pool.
Eating food is not a problem, just make sure you have a gap of 3-4 hours. And Yes, early morning swimming can be one of the most relaxing sport.

Swimming here in summers in Delhi is very different. Even in good pools the water is hot and i don't enjoy it here, but i can't go to Ddoon to haridwar to swim in a river
This week's workout
1200 meters on saturday
1000 meters on sunday
Tried 200 meters of warm up on each day.
Few sprints. but mostly average speed.
Lost my bottle so cannot drink water between the breaks, though I think my cramps are due to fatigue because I don't get proper sleep. This Saturday I slept for over 8 hours, which is improvement over my 6 hour per day sleep.
November was crappy month for swimming, no swims at all.
This month however I am able to squeeze about 10+ swims
Today I did 1200 meters without any cramps, so that is going on for me.
Ok, I hit the 1500 mark today. The glorious occasion.
can't swim well.hardly swim as I have no time at all its only work work & only work phew
May be if your work is taking over your life, you should look for change.
I wanted to make this a 3 day a week swim but ?#@*&%!^$~ing hell.
Among other things I have been pushing for upper limits.
so in december I hit the high number 1500->1600->1800.
but today I have hit my highest of 2 kms. Celebrated with a huge huge pizza.

lol, not really. I don't do it often. I pushed way too much.
I have to repeat this performance. Though I have pushed my lower average to 1200 meters from 1000 meters in last year. This year the stable has to be 1500 meters with 800 meter + 400 meters + 300 meters laps.
