    How to reduce cholestrol?

What modifications to one's diet should one do?

Intake of what food items (other than the obvious) should be reduced and increased for which?

Any symptoms to watch out for?

    Thanks in advance!

Eat just plain healthy, don't eat fried food.
Run and/or swim. Everyday walking and/or climbing stair to office does nothing, it is just fooling yourself.
Eat a lot of vegetables especially eat them raw, don't overcook them.
Avoid greasy meat and avoid cooking meat with buttloads of ghee/butter/oil and spices. Eat lean meat and eat a lot of fish.

Already started with a lean diet - No fat, skimmed milk and fibre flakes in the morning. Light meals (small portions throughout). Don't remember the last time I ate at KFC or Burger King. French Fries are a strict no-no.

No to very little (1/4th tea spoon) sugar in tea. No carbonated drinks (diet coke included) for several weeks now. Enjoying juices (sugar free again), fresh fruits.

Alcohol consumption has been turned down to 1. Atleast 1 week between a drink and that too just one single pint of beer. Have been having a lil red wine now and then though (Little ~ 1-1.5 glass every 3-4 days).

Walking about 3-5 kms a day (brisk pace) but mostly due to work. Unable to take time out for a stringent regime.

Was having weird sensations in my chest a few weeks back, scheduling for a full medical examination soon.
