Well, if these guys can do it, why couldn't Nokia pull it off? I mean Nokia has way more muscle power than Canonical. Ubuntu on tablets | Ubuntu
This tablet is the Nexus 10 .. Ubuntu isn't making them .. its just porting its Ubuntu to work on the ARM architecture and using the Nexus 10 as a prototype.. It wants other HW manufacturers to support its porting and make it popular.
It'll be out for the first time this week .. The tab interface seems more promising and would actually open a gateway to productivity .. IIRC Linux distros are power hungry .. The kernel for the ARM tablets would needs to be power efficient to stand a chance against Androids & iOS. Canonical is trying to impress HW vendors in hopes that some one would partner with it and launch the Ubuntu powered tablets commercially .. coz untill then it will only remain a geek project running on Nexus devices.
From what I've heard and found from the usage on laptops .. Batteries last longer when running Windows. I suppose the power management is better with Windows .. probably due to better drivers.
i looked at it, unfortunately it is true. Most drivers are reverse engineered and/or poorly written without spec sheets and also written for efficiency of operation.
