Purpose - To get a Blu-Ray player to play movies. Looking at - Sony PS3 Why - Had read reviews that the PS3 doubles up as a good Blu-Ray player as well. Need to know if this is possible. And also for the fact that I can use it to play games atleast. Itching to game! Questions - Would it play burned discs as well? DVDs/Blu-Rays? And Ahem ahem versions? Any chipping/modding involved? Thanks in advance!!
PS3 plays Blurays without a hitch .. you can even dump movies onto your HDD and it will play. You can even create a media server on your laptop and PS3 will stream those Laptop Stored movies to your TV through WIFI. You can connect External HDD and play movies off it. You don't need to mod/hack. @Vikid ..
Thanks man! so pretty much set on it now. Even if I buy the 12 Gig model, I can still hook up my 3 TB external to it.
Yep, its pretty much plug and play .. For Streaming you can install TVersity - TVersity - Home on your Laptop/Desktop.
For input on using PS3 as a media/BLu-Ray player and the regular games that one can play on it. Also, should I wait for the PS4? It's about 3 weeks away from launch? One more thing, is it anyway possible to connect a keyboard and mouse to a PS3 for gaming. I googled it, some games do support a mouse and a keybooard. Playing COD would be fun!
Connecting KB + Mouse requires additional interface devices which induce some bit of lag IIRC .. not very popular .. Quite being a casual and learn to aim with a controller
