Since the arrival of iBricks, everyone has gone into oblivion and phone now have only one form factor i.e. like a ?#@*&%!^$~ing brick.
I remember my first android phone was qwert slider, it was sleek, beautiful and attention grabbing.
There are no serious other phone types besides the brick and even blackberry keypads are disappearing quicker than the wallets in Noida intercity buses.
I always feel apprehensive about using touchscreen typepad no matter how fancy those things are. I remember they did something fancy like dragging the alpabets to make a word on one of the android platform. I still fancy a good keypress. If they put a keypad in one of these Nexii or Galaxies or notes I would buy it in Jiffy, but without a keypad, I just donno why I should have one of these devices, which are capable of sshing into a computer.

The thing is that the touchscreen keypads are doing a good enough job, so why bring in the qwert keyboard? :p

the point is different people prefer different things, this can be a huge market. I clearly know oldies like me prefer qwert. And having choice is always good.

Its the whole race to make phones thin and sleek ..
Every phone company today advertises their products by showing a side-by-side profile comparison ... its why we dont get bigger batteries.
Any smartphone to day has to fit into the 9mm range ..

A Slideout physical keyboard is not 'hip' anymore ..and there is the extra cost involved.

a Good alphanumeric phone is still a lot easier to handle than a touch only phone. Especially when walking or on the move in a vehicle.

The whole issue is sharing space between the screen and the keypad. A slide is the final trade off. I remember buying a slider Nokia. 6300 or something. It was a blessing to type on

I guess it has to do with the formfactor. Almost all the new smartphones are already quite bulky and with an external kbd it would simply add to the weight.
Besides one without dedicated kbd are already being sold in abundant. EOL qwert?
