Looking at the progress on the series. (I've not read the books, just the TV Series). The dude is 65 years old. The TV series have burned thru the 3rd and some of the 4th books from what I understand. Now that leaves us with about 1.5 books left, until he comes out with his next release. The track record so far has been 5 years per book. Considering the fact that the last book (A dance with dragons) came out in 2011, that means that the next book would be around 2016! Even if there is a pre-release to the script writers for the TV series, we're looking at seeing all this in 2017! They have the 2015 and 2016 seasons to fulfil, which could possibly be dragged out of the remaining 1.5 books, though looking at the plots on Wiki, I seriously doubt it. There have been talks that he's given a general gist to the producers of the TV series so that in the unforeseen situation of his death, they can continue production and bring the story to an end. As much as I would like to read the whole epic saga, the possibility of an unfulfilled ending, or an ending that can possibly not be finished by him, I am inclined to stay away. Thoughts?
