On the hunt for an android device for my sister. Well I was pretty sure Xperia SP should be the one, but after seeing the price of Galaxy s3 (~23-24K), things got confusing.. Here is what I think, Pros of SP over s3: -The design. Sis just loved the phone -Very good specs for a mid range device -Adreno 320, better gaming (which she wont be doing much) Pros of s3 over SP: -User friendly -Better Screen (SP has poor viewing angles and colors appear washed out) -Faster updates (4.2.2 leak already out) -Huge community support (I will be helping her in that department ) -Better Camera and Video recording So would like to seek help from fellow Raiders Which is better between the two?
My vote for the S3 however I do like to live exclusive So the Sony is equally tempting for me, Go for the S3. I am expecting more than half of the features of the S4 finding their way in the S3 thru community support
The features will be in the official 4.2.2 update itself Samsung announced it after the launch of S4..
So more reasons to consider the S3. If only Samsung came up with a S3 Maxx version, or probably for the S4, that's like 8-11 mm thick, and comes with a 4000mAh battery.
BTW, why not a Nexus 4? I saw what dbg uses, and it's an extremely capable phone as well, cheaper as well than the S3. --- Double Post Merged, May 26, 2013 --- noob query, what's KLP?
Key Lime Pie --- Double Post Merged, May 26, 2013 --- Well I thought of the nexus 4 but I know she will drop the phone. I have seen her drop the Atrix 2 so many times. Nexus 4 can handle little bumps and drops, but I don't want to take chances.
Samsung Note 2 is the better option, if you are planning to buy new phone under the budget of 30K. But the offer is valid till the end of this month only. Just few days back I bought this "Note 2" with 15% cash back offer from Samsung authorized dealer and it cost me around 30K (Exact Price - Rs29'750/-). You already know about the best features of this Note 2 which is now comes with the value for money offer. Con: Huge in Size. Samsung S3 is also a good option, but still I don't like this phone due to moderate battery power, which keeps you busy in checking the Task Manager to kill the unnecessary application for extra RAM and battery usage.
Gotcha! If SIZE DOES MATTER a lot then go with S3 And I know that you already have Note 2 Review - Samsung Galaxy Note II (N7100) | RAID101
Not really. Nexus 4 glass back is quite prone to cracking on drops. Better off with plastic for the drop problem.
Not without a case. Mine has slipped of the bed a few time and hasn't taken any damage even without a case but you will need to invest in a good case for the phone for regular use. If you've tried it , it offers the smoothest Android Experience you've ever seen. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Had a good look at the Xperia SP today.. The phone is brilliant.. The response was quick, games were super smooth, camera was quite decent, sound output was decent, the screen clarity was good, though coming from a super AMOLED the display appeared a bit dull.. The problem? After I found this video few days back, I wanted to check it myself. The device I used today had the exact same issue.. Not as serious as in the video but it was failing to register the touch a few times.. I hope this is a software issue and Sony fixes this soon.. Also I'm not sure if all the Xperia SPs are having this problem. So for now, Xperia SP is out of the equation..
